Yes, in most circumstances a conviction can be appealed. An appeal is not a new trial — it is a review of whether legal errors occurred during your case that affected the outcome. Common grounds include improper admission of evidence, ineffective assistance of counsel, and constitutional violations. Strict deadlines apply, so it is important to contact an appellate attorney promptly after conviction.
As early as possible — ideally before you speak with law enforcement at all. Many cases are significantly affected by what happens before charges are even filed. Early intervention allows your attorney to gather evidence, communicate with investigators, protect your rights, and potentially influence charging decisions.
